Since Kel-Tec started shipping the new PMR-30 auto pistols a few weeks ago, shooters have been looking for good concealment and field holsters in which to carry that dandy pistol. The PMR-30 can fit pretty well into holsters that are built to fit Glock medium-frame pistols, but now Rob Leahy of Simply Rugged Holsters has begun building high-quality leather holsters specifically for the Kel-Tec PMR-30. Rob’s Sourdough Pancake is a very versatile holster, offering good retention and protection in the field or on the trail. I have used Rob’s Sourdough Pancake for several years, and find it to work quite well. The Cuda is very similar to the Sourdough Pancake, but is built for autoloaders only, and carries the PMR-30 comfortably while offering excellent concealment. The main difference between the two is that the Cuda has a piece of leather between the back of the slide and the shooter, to protect both the skin and the gun. The Cuda can be worn either strong-side on the hip, or as a cross draw for wear while seated in a vehicle or on an ATV or horse for quick access. The Cuda pulls the butt of the grip in tightly against the body for easy concealment under a shirt or jacket. Rob is building a matching magazine pouch for carrying a spare magazine along with the PMR-30 as well.

Rob is also building a dandy little trim Range Master holster for the PMR-30. This is a fine choice for field or concealment, but does not offer the option of cross draw as does the Cuda. The Range Master shown here has some really good-looking border stamping, and also a retention screw to adjust the pull tension while drawing the weapon.

As I stated in the review of the PMR-30, it is an excellent weapon that fills a niche that badly needed filling. Whenever I go back into the woods on a tractor or in the Rhino, I always carry a sidearm, usually a 22 Magnum revolver. Now that I have an excellent holster for the PMR-30, it will likely ride with me more often than not, and I will carry it in the Simply Rugged Cuda.
