Black Dog Machine of Middleton, Idaho has
some very interesting and innovative products for shooters, one
of which is their new fifty-round drum magazine shown here. It
is easy to load, and has proven to be one hundred percent
reliable. The drum is made of a high-grade plastic, just like
their twenty-five round stick magazines. The drum weighs just
slightly over one pound, and protrudes out the bottom of the
weapon roughly the same amount as the twenty-five round
magazine.
The Black Dog Machine drum will fit and
function with the Tactical Solutions,
Atchisson/Ciener, Model 1 Sales, and Spikes uppers, and also in
the Kel-Tec PLR-22 and SU-22, as
well as the Sig 522. I have only tested it with the Tactical
Solutions upper and the Kel-Tec PLR-22, and again, in those it
functioned perfectly. I also saw a video in which the drum
was used with a full-auto .22 Long Rifle M-16, and again it ran
perfectly. You
can see that YouTube video here.
The Black Dog Machine drum magazine is a
great idea, and a welcome addition to those firearms for which
it will fit and function. Not much more that I can say about
this product, except that it works, works very well, and I
highly recommend it.

UPDATE: Since reviewing this AR-15
magazine about three weeks ago, Black Dog has now introduced
this drum magazine for the Ruger 10/22 rifle. It works and
operates just like the AR magazine, but will work in any firearm
that uses the Ruger 10/22 style magazines. I tried this mag in
my 10/22 Tactical, and it
fits and functions perfectly. Lots of firepower, and lots of
fun!
