LEE NEWTON RUGERS, by Lee Newton1ST PLACE RCA INTERMEDIATELee’s very interesting display included the extremely rare
mint Spanish engraved Single-Six # 5100, the first gun of the 20 consecutive
numbered Single-Sixes sent to Spain for engraving, and the Charles Jerred
engraved Single-Six # 100718, which was
in the last group of seven Single-Sixes engraved by Jerred.
The “Pete” Brown Single-Six # 23 and the Fred Davis
Single-Six # 51 reflected fine examples of early guns that Bill Ruger sent to
Gun writers and special gun industry folks.
Lee also displayed the No. 1 rifle # 3437, engraved by A. A. White in the pattern of the Writers “21 Club” rifles but not factory commissioned. With fine custom wood by Joe Balichie of North Carolina and a Shilen barrel in 7MM Remington Magnum, this is a real mystery Ruger rifle!! (click pictures for a larger version)
